| Vernon page is now up in the maps section, check it. Doing fairly decent in the comp, from what I've seen of the reviews. Contest results should be up in a timely basis for this comp. Projects page was also updated. Unrealed3 feels very foreign, it's gonna be a bit before I can start making uber double-dom maps of doom. The interface is quite different than QuArK, probably closer to Hammer. Beyond that, it's a bit odd to be using textures that are generally larger than my entire screen. -Cash Car Star |

| Just a little check-in here, for all none of you that visit. I'm continuing work on the Snarkpit map. I've also started work on something I doubted I'd ever do again: a map for Counter-Strike. Counter-Map has announced it will begina collecting submissions for its third map pack. I honestly think I have a chance to make it in, so I am gonna go for it. The map will be an urban assassination map. I have the layout nearly set and textures collected, only done a bit of the brushwork so far though. As of now, it's named as_hindsight. My mapping time for HL may start to dwindle here. The core of the S&I dev team have drifted off to various things, namely "real life." I put it in quotes because I am still unconvinced such a thing exists, and I feel its presence is mere conjecture. Anyway, it finally feels like the mod is "moving out" so to speak, and I wanna spend some time on some stuff that other people will actually get to see. NS is still an option, however some of the official maps are just of insane quality and i just don't know if I could possibly compare, ever. They're certainly not afraid of turning down mappers, as N@rby's map was cut from the official map list, and he's been working with them on his map for months now. The main reason my HL mapping time may dwindle is because I now have UT2003, and I'm certain its editor is gonna lure me in one of these days. -Cash Car Star |

Still looking for a name. First build of the map was completed and I had a mini-test going on. Still lots of polish to go. New screenshot for ya.![]() -Cash Car Star |

So I've mostly been working on my contest map for Snarkpit. The theme is to create an arena with contrasting elements. Out of a list of suggested contrasts, I choose Tech/Nature. My map takes place inside a tech-y arena with a gargantuan tree growing out of the middle. R_speed limits for the contest are 1000, so I've been kinda going nuts in terms of brushes visible, for me atleast. It's nearing the playtest and polish phase already, which is cool, however it's lacking one major thing. A name. Take a look at the screenshot below and then suggest a name for me.![]() These are the names I am currently considering: * Vernon * Arginine * Arboretum Feel free to suggest other titles as well. Perhaps I'll go Quakeish and name it ccshldm4? Nah. -Cash Car Star |

| The Lab finally posted results of the mini-mapping competition. I am quite happy to announce that my map, SI_Overfloater took First Place. You can find a review of the map here. Snarkpit announced their mapping contest quite some time ago, and due to some massive tests I have just now started to build my map for it. Also, Natural Selection is the most rocking mod I have ever had the pleasure to play (Thanks Rhoads). Watch out for that one. -Cash Car Star |

| New screenies available in the projects section, along with an update of my current happenings. Still waiting on results at The Lab. The Snarkpit may be running a contest in the near future, it's tough to say though... I got my e-mail and my FTP accounts working, so I should be all good to go for the future. -Cash Car Star |

| I apologize for the downtime there. Not only did Howling basically desert the main site, leaving my site a motley of broken links, but my laptop, where I keep everything like this, ceased functioning, and it took a while to get someone to fix it. Beyond that, it was summer, which is reason enough. Here's a breakdown of my recent mapping activities: *Left the After-Empire team, no one else was doing anything so I decided to split *Started some work on an unnamed Domination map *Did nothing on SI_Satur9 *Created a map, SI_Overfloater for a mapping competition at The Lab, I will post the map here following the publishing of the results. *Restarted work on the HLDM map Daydream, which will also be released for Domination -Cash Car Star |

| It's out! I'm having some difficulty with the edgefiles server, so right now you can grab si_satur9_r5 from my school storage space. -Cash Car Star |
| June 13, 2002 |
I'm currently doing a little polishing on SI_Satur9, the fifth redux build should hopefully be available tomorrow. Got rid of a dumb crash bug, just gotta do some minor stuff and it'll be good to go. Enjoy some screenies: ![]() -Cash Car Star |

| Been awhile since the last update, there was a bit of server downtime in the middle of that. Finally back up on my feet and running (I think) so e-mail me if something doesn't work. New version of satur9 will probably be out sometime soon, although I'm gonna be taking a few days for a trip to Georgia for my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary. -Cash Car Star |

| I got some major finalage going on here so I haven't really had much time for mapping recently. I have done bits and pieces, I got a little more done on Daydream and redux 5 of Satur9 should be out sometime in the near future. Anyway, I'm going to try to pointedly ignore mapping until about 3:00 PM Friday due to the force that is Organic Chemistry. After that, I may be up for a bit of extreme mapping, in which case you'll get some cool stuff. That said, I may also be up for a bit of extreme final fantasy playing, extreme Robert Jordan reading, or even extreme sitting on a couch watching movies on Comedy Central, so that just goes to prove absolutely nothing. Oh, before I forget it looks like there's gonna be some changes at the Valvepit, though hopefully it shouldn't really affect anything here. And I wish the guy leading After-Empire was a bit more active. -Cash Car Star |

| Enough with the useless pointless updates, here's one with some meat! First off, I have released redux beta 3 of si_satur9. It's got a bunch of improvements, I'd really like some more feedback on it, the feedback on the first was great. Even better, I got a new project going on, called Daydream. I've only been working on it for a little bit, but it's coming along great. The theme is rather odd, it's an industrial area in a Xen world, not a Xen factory type of thing though. Check the screenshot below and the others in the projects section to see how I'm blending these two themes together. ![]() -Cash Car Star |

| I finally finished up the update to as_aldea, so if you feel like it you can download it now. It's no big deal or anything, I'm just making some closure here to be at peace with it. I can sleep better now knowing I finally released the improved version.

| Well, this is it! My new home here at Valvepit! Everything should be working, please e-mail me if you find something not working. On the itinerary for the coming work is a final version of as_aldea, complete with the new name, and also a new beta compile of satur9. I've also started work on a secret secret HLDM map, and wrote up the bio. -Cash Car Star |
| April 15, 2002 |
| Ok, the site's up, everything should be working. I decided upon a name for the 52hours map finally, it will now be called as_aldea. The download file has not been updated to reflect this, however. Got more than a bit of schoolwork in the coming weeks, so don't expect too much. -Cash Car Star |
| April 13, 2002 |
| Just a little notice saying that parts of the site are down, some permanentally, others temporarily. I'm working on a new webdesign this weekend, which will hopefully cut out quite a bit of the crap, leaving more of the good stuff. A few of the worse maps will be purged from the webspace, as well as perfectly good projects that just went nowhere. Anyway, download satur9 from the link in the previous post and send me some feedback. I've made some adjustments, fixed all the blatant bugs, and may release redux2 later this weekend. Hopefully it'll go official, though I haven't asked directly yet. Still a lot to do in terms of ambience, adding some sounds, making techno-y things in the labs, etc. -Cash Car Star |
| April 11, 2002 |
After a couple weeks I've whipped up a beta of si_satur9. The version is called si_satur9_redux1, and can be downloaded here. I've found a few bugs already, but hunt for any more that you might find. Please e-mail me or post in the S&I forums with feedback. I'm really hoping this one does well, I like it a lot and already have a host of things I'm going to do with it aesthetically. Well, that's it, here's some screens for ya. Oh, I've been thinking about giving the site a spiffy overhaul this weekend, I got such a bad filing system right now... ![]() -Cash Car Star |

| Right so I'd like to start off by saying if your name is Luke Stillman, I am not too happy with you right now. Taking my map and claiming it to be yours and sending it to a review site is not cool. All those that may visit Global Assault should know the map reviewed there as DM_Glimmer is my map, and an earlier incarnation of Glimmer that wasn't really supposed to go public. I have sent an e-mail to the site, but they have yet to get back to me about it. AS_unnamed for the Destiny mod got some lighting for the first time today, and you can check out some pics by clicking below. The building is still under construction and the cliffs are nothing more than placeholders, but I'm rather proud of the bridge and lamps. ![]() Finally, on a site that gives awards to members of the gaming community, specifically in FPS's like HL, Q3 and UT, I received an honorable mention for best newcomer mapper. Check it out (you'll have to scroll a little). -Cash Car Star |

| Grievance has been reviewed at Global Assault and received an awesome score of 7/10. Can't seem to create a direct link to the review, but it's the only map named Grievance on the site. I have recently been fooling around mostly on the map for domination gameplay as mentioned in the previous news post, and also a map for Destiny. The Destiny map has some nice brushwork going, and once I add the lighting, should have some awesome atmosphere. Most importantly, I have received an e-mail from the head of the After-Empire mod, asking if I would join the team! The mod looks very interesting and has a great team so I responded that it would be a pleasure to work on it. Mark your calendars for this one. -Cash Car Star |

| Been awhile since this site was last updated. First and foremost, Grievance has now been released! So go grab it. Secondly, I have created a little replacement for the satchel used to carry resources in Science and Industry. A picture can be found here. The download can be found here. Remember to back up your original. Also, my roommates and I have decided to attempt to make a mod. It won't be anything fancy, we are just trying to create a domination gameplay mode similar to that found in Unreal Tournament. I've already started work on an unnamed new map for the mod, and Grievance will also be converted for use in the mod. That's it for now, but there will be more news, along with new screenshots as I get farther along into work on that. -Cash Car Star |
| December 10, 2001 |
Ok, today I made the first beta compile of Grievance. I gotta say it's looking pretty spiffy. Gameplay was great, even with as few as three people we ran into each other enough. I made a few stupid mistakes like forgetting to put in HEV chargers and ladders, but other than that it was really smooth. Lighting came out nearly spot on. Got another screenshot from the basement level, as well as a few updated screenshots with the new lighting. Apparentally having the hud on near doubles the jpg size so I doubt I'll take my screenshots like that again. I also got a weird thing going on with my trap of doom, but that should be sorted out by the next beta, which I may make public. Shouldn't be long now.![]() -Cash Car Star |
| December 9, 2001 |
Even more updates concerning Grievance! Lighting and texturing is pretty much complete, just gotta add some guns, bullets, and spawns. Shouldn't be too long til I got a beta out. I also just found out the hardway what happens when you try to play a clanmatch for cs after nearly a month of not playing it. It wasn't very pretty but still enjoyable. Hey look! It's a screenshot. I wonder where it came from?![]() -Cash Car Star |
| December 7, 2001 |
Grievance is drawing dangerously close to completion. Regular classes are basically over for me now, but finals are just about to start up. Hopefully I can get a beta out before studying sweeps me up. It's progressing very nicely, I have all of the layout brushwork completed, leaving detail brushes, lighting and a few texture applications to be left, as well as the inclusion of player spawns and weapons. Got one more screenshot up, bottom levels will be lighter after I give them a bit of lighting, but it looks cool anyways. Also, I had the priviledge of playing on an early version of si_replicant by +Cadaver+ (maker of de_vegas, es_trinity, flf_ascension, and about a third of the science & industry maps) and I have to say it is the single most outstanding map visually that I have ever seen. Also, after extremely scientific testing, it is confirmed that I am 22.5% British.![]() -Cash Car Star |

| I realized recently that my 52hours map does not have the wadfile available. Normally I would mirror it, however I am near the end of my rope for webspace right now. Instead, I'm going to link you here. You will need to download two files, one will come from clicking on one of the many mirrors at the bottom, the other from clicking on the hyperlinked "here" in the update paragraph near the top. Unzip both files, and place the .wad's into your route /cstrike directory, where there's a whole bunch of other .wad's. -Cash Car Star |

The Grievance page has been updated, with some more current information, along with three brand new screenshots. The map is looking to be absolutely killer, so keep your eyes peeled for further updates about it. Also, as_52hours is now going to be converted into a map for the Destiny Mod for multiple reasons, primarily being it would be lost in the ocean that is the CS mapping community. I think the map deserves more than that, so I will be working on converting the map for this incredible looking up-and-coming mod. Unfortunately, I don't think I will have time to work on it until Christmas break though :-/. That's ok, there's still plenty of time. I'll leave you with one of the new screenshots from Grievance.![]() -Cash Car Star |

| New look to the maps and project page, displaying the description and status of the maps. Also, I have finally created a page for ex_poseidon, which I'm working very hard on and is looking absolutley incredible. 2 new screenshots are available at the page. Finally, the navigational links at the top of the page have been redone, so that they don't look so shoddy anymore. -Cash Car Star |

| Man it's empty around here. Everyone else has already left for Thanksgiving. Should be checking out in less than an hour though, so I'm not too concerned. Anyway, Glimmer is now being officially released, after sitting around on my desktop for a while. Also, revamping of si_satur9 has commenced, and many changes have already been implemented. My trigger_push doesn't wanna work yet :-/, but once I get it going it'll be pretty awesome. It pains me to see what I considered "brushwork" back then, but I'll manage. Also, I completed my Cube of Doom and have mailed it off to Electric Gerbil. You will all be able to know the insanity soon enough. For now, be comfortable that you don't. One last comment, the True Poets of Zwan have come and they're gonna rock. -Cash Car Star |

| The finalists for the 52 Hours competition at www.counter-strike.de have been announced. My map wasn't included as one of the finalists, however it did get a nomination, placing it in the top 25 of the 110+ maps received. Since I'm basically out of the competition, I figured I'd start posting stuff about it on my site now. Screenshots and the download for my submission can be found here. Ok, don't break anything. -Cash Car Star |
