There's a time when you really have to put a label on reality. My tenure as a HL mapper is over. It was definitely fun for the few years I was into it; sometimes I wish I was a bit more focused and could finish my projects satisfactorily. Anyway, you can still probably find me at Snarkpit chatting on the General boards, or at the sketch writing site linked in the news post below this one. HLGaming has been a great host and they're agreed to keep this site up as archived. So that's what's happening. Oh, and the e-mail address is going down - if you want to contact me you should be able to get me at Snarkpit.

Yeah, so I'm not doing nearly as much mapping as I used to. Visit the projects page for some projects, or don't. I can't make you. If you enjoy comedy sketch writing go here, or don't. Same principle applies really.

Bit of a lag between posts here, but let me say, other than Christmas break I sure have been busy. Prior to going on vacation, I undertook a project to expand overfloater, by adding a ground portion. Click here for what came out of that project. This was released sometime in mid-January. Following that, I've been messing around a bit, there are rumors of a GA map comp, and I sat down and built an urban-industrial deathmatch room, currently known as Exploder. This is currently on hold until a mapping comp actually starts...

But wait, there's more! Ok, so SI_Polyp, now called SI_Hydra has barely been touched since break, but I finally got my act together and polished off AGCTF_Daydream. Just got a loc file to add and then it's off to BuLLiT for inclusion in AG v6.1! I started tossing some brushes together in QuArK another day and now have the base for what will be SI_Satur9_t3, or Take Three. It's gonna be a lot less like the previous two in setting, borrowing more from daybreak than anything else, but that won't stop it from rocking. But even that is on the backburner compared to real deal.

NS_Aerie. So earlier this week, I received word that maps for NS v1.1 are due on the 14th of February. I had a bunch of schoolwork, so didn't get to working on it at all until the 6th. It is now as you can see the 8th. I have one hive, three major rooms, and two res nodes so far. I am incredibly psyched about racing the clock to get this thing in, not unlike the fever that hit me for the 52 hours mapping comp held by counterstrike.de last year. Anyway, here's an Aerie screenie:

If you wanna keep more up to date, and check this site, then you are weird and should instead visit The Snarkpit because I update my profile there more with more screenshots, funny business, what I'm doing, and of course post tutorials on ridiculously complex entity sequences just to tick off Orph...

Just an update to the project page this time. Tossed up some screenshots from SI_Polyp. How 'bout some instant gratification? Here ya go:

AGCTF_Daydream is in beta. I made some changes, gonna post this around see what happens. Possibly some weapon tweaking needed, also might need some more base teamcoloring. Here's a screenie:

DL here.

OP4CTF_Daydream is completed! Woohoo! Time to move on, but I think I did a killer job on this one, so check it out even though you obviously don't play op4ctf. Definately my best work so far. When I finished, I had used up all but just a sliver of the allowed number of planes in a map, so much that it rounded up to 100.0%.

Results to the Snarkpit Mapping competition should be posted soon. I've been fairly surprised at how well received my map, Vernon, has been. I got a final compile, with the lighting in the back corridor fixed, to send off to Lep for the mappack. NS still blows my mind, Daydream may end up for op4ctf, I got a DD map in the works for UT2k3 called DOM-Craptation, Chaos has ordered me to make a good map for S&I, and as_hindsight is still sitting there. So it looks like I got my plate full for a bit.
